ORACLE

A Relational Database Management System

home  Home
Oracle Web Applications India Oracle is a relational database management system that is ideally suited for large enterprise applications. It includes grid computing features that enable databases to make use of load balancing features without the need to install any additional software components.

Oracle is available in various editions each designed to meet a different set of requirements. The standard edition contains all the basic database features and functionalities and is meant for a limited number of users. The enterprise edition includes numerous features over and above the standard edition. The Oracle database is also available in an Express Edition that is available for free distribution on Windows and Linux platforms. However the express edition limits the data storage to 4GB. Another edition is the Oracle personal edition that is meant for single users. An Oracle database can also be deployed on mobile devices via the Oracle Database Lite.

Oracle is platform independent and can be deployed on a whole range of platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OSX, etc.

Oracle to SQL Server Migration
Offshore.NET Development offers its expertise in migrating databases from an Oracle platform to SQL Server databases. Our database migration process can be divided into the following stages:

Assessment: In the assessment stage, our database experts conduct a feasibility study to assess the viability of migrating the database. The viability is determined by taking into considerations factors such as complexity, level of modifications to be carried out and the time required to migrate the database.

Migration: This stage involves migrating of the table structures, business logic and the data. Our database experts make modifications to the table structures and business logic so as to make them compatible with the SQL Server syntax, features and restrictions.

Application Changes: The next stage involves changes being made in the overlying applications so as to make them compatible with the SQL Server database.

Testing: On completion of the migration process, we carry out detailed tests to check for errors/defects. We also ensure that the both databases show the same results when queried.
